Haunchwood Brick Kiln

Haunchwood Brick Kiln

At one time there were dozens or possibly hundreds of these round kilns dotted around the various brickyards in the Nuneaton and Bedworth area. There is only one left today and that lies derelict and forgotten near Judkins waste tip. These two kilns were photographed at Haunchwood Brick & Tile’s Nr. 3 yard in Bermuda Road. As you can see clay pipes were a major part of their production. In addition they made the salt glazed sanitary variety with all the variety of fittings that went with them. Also common bricks and hollow clay building blocks. The works closed by 1970 and is now an industrial estate.
